This course was originally released May 1, 2016 under UAN #0430-0000-16-034-H04-P. Updates were provided throughout the accreditation period. May 2, 2019 additional updates provided to ensure medical accuracy/timely information and released under UAN#0430-0000-19-042-H04-P.
HOW TO EARN CREDIT
During the period May 2, 2019 through May 2, 2022 participants must 1) read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures; 2) study the educational activity; and 3) complete the post-test and the evaluation form. To answer the questions, click on your selected choice for each answer then proceed to the next question. Once completed, click on Grade Exam at the bottom of the page. Your post-test will automatically be graded. If you successfully complete the post-test (score of 70% or higher), your statement of participation will be made available immediately. Click on the View Statement of Participation link and print the statement for your records. If you receive a score lower than 70%, you will receive a message notifying you that you did not pass the post-test. You will have 2 opportunities to pass the post-test. To receive Credit, you must provide your date of birth and NABP number. All Credit information will be uploaded into CPE monitor within 30 days.
The goal of this CE module is to provide pharmacists with an overview of MTM and Star ratings, and how these components can work in synergy to allow pharmacists to improve quality of care measures in the pharmacy.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Define health care quality and describe how value-based purchasing will impact the future of health care;
- Describe the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) Star ratings;
- Restate an organization that creates pharmacy quality measures;
- List 5 examples of medication use quality measures;
- Describe how a pharmacist can determine how his or her pharmacy is contributing to the Part D Star ratings;
- Define Medication Therapy Management (MTM), Comprehensive Medication Reviews (CMR), and Targeted Medication Reviews (TMR); and
- Describe how MTM and Star ratings can work together synergistically and how this presents an opportunity for pharmacists.
