How to Earn Credit
During the period March 26, 2015 through March 31, 2017, participants must 1) read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures; 2) study the educational activity; and 3) complete the posttest and the evaluation form. To answer the questions, click on your selected choice for each answer then proceed to the next question. Once completed, click on Submit Posttest at the bottom of the page. Goal
The goal of this activity is to increase the awareness, understanding, and the ability of pharmacists in hospital/health-systems, long-term care, and oncology/specialty settings to assess, manage, and support the treatment of anemia in individuals with cancer who are receiving myelosuppressive chemotherapy.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
1. Assess the risk of anemia in patients with cancer undergoing chemotherapy and explain the available therapies;
2. Identify potential causes of anemia in patients with cancer and those receiving chemotherapy;
3. Select and evaluate effective treatment approaches for anemia according to individual patient characteristics, as recommended in current treatment guidelines;
4. Evaluate relevant safety warnings and precautions and potential adverse effects associated with the anemia treatment approaches selected for the patient; and
5. Recommend best practices for anemia prevention and the management of treatment for patients with cancer.
