HOW TO EARN CREDIT
During the period February 28, 2014 through February 28, 2016, participants must 1) read the educational objectives and faculty

disclosures; 2) study the educational activity; and 3) complete the posttest and the evaluation form. To answer the questions, click on your selected choice for each answer then proceed to the next question. Once completed, click on ‘Submit Posttest’ at the bottom of the page. Your posttest will automatically be graded. If you successfully complete the posttest (score of 70% or higher), your Statement of Credit will be made available immediately. GOAL
This activity is designed to inform and educate pharmacy professionals about the use of incretin in the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

1.  

Explain recommended use of incretin-based therapies in current patient-centered treatment recommendations for the management of hyperglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes

2.  

Identify two major safety benefits of incretin-based therapies that have elevated the role of these agents in recommendations for monotherapy and as part of combination therapy strategies

3.  

Differentiate GLP-1 receptor agonists from DPP-4 inhibitors with regard to mode of action, safety and efficacy

4. Explain the rationale for combining incretin-based therapy and insulin therapy as part of an intensification strategy to achieve glycemic control
