GOAL
The goal of this educational activity is to to provide newer insight to the diagnosis and management of acute otitis externa (AOE), including a review of the most appropriate approach to symptom management.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:

1.  

Identify the most common causes of acute otitis externa (AOE);

2.  

Describe the clinical presentation of AOE;

3.  

Discuss the current recommendations for treatment of AOE;

4. Outline a patient treatment plan that includes pharmacologic and over-the-counter management strategies for patients with AOE; and
5. Identify when patients with AOE should be referred to their health care provider for further evaluation.
