TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists; pharmacy technicians; physicians, including hematologists and oncologists; and oncology nurses.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this educational activity is to develop effective strategies to manage
metastatic colorectal cancer and to improve patient adherence to therapy.
STATEMENT OF NEED/PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The goal of this educational program is to provide an update on the management of metastatic colorectal cancer, offer guidelines for appropriate selection of therapy, and provide strategies for enhancing patient adherence.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After completing this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe the prevalence and diagnosis of colorectal cancer; *
- Indicate the implications of nonadherence to antineoplastic therapy;*
- Outline the efficacy and safety of current agents for the management of metastatic colorectal cancer;*
- Review guidelines for appropriate selection of therapy;* and
- Describe strategies for enhancing patient adherence.
